Haystack Rock at sunset in Cannon Beach, OR

Cannon Beach, Oregon

Few places capture the Oregon Coast quite like Cannon Beach. Haystack Rock rises from the shoreline, waves stretch toward the horizon and the small downtown is filled with galleries, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. It's an easy place to spend a weekend doing very little—or use as a base for exploring Ecola State Park and the surrounding coast.

Tips

Where to StayTolovana is the choice for travelers who want the beach to be the backyard. Spacious suites, kitchens, fireplaces, balconies, indoor saltwater pool, hot tub and sauna make it especially strong for families, couples and longer coastal stays.

Once you're in town, many attractions are walkable, but a car is useful for Ecola State Park, Arch Cape and nearby beaches.

Cannon Beach has mild winters but much more precipitation; summer is the busiest period, while fall and winter trade crowds for dramatic weather and wildlife.
